Salary: up to $110,000 Commensurate with Experience

DoITT provides for the sustained, efficient and effective delivery of IT services, infrastructure and telecommunications to enhance service delivery to New York City's residents, businesses, employees and visitors. As the City's technology leader, DoITT is responsible for maintaining the foundational IT infrastructure and systems that touch every aspect of City life from public safety to human services, from education to economic development crossing the full spectrum of governmental operations.

Job Description:

  • Resolve issues and recommend solutions by bridging business, IT and sourcing requirements;
  • Research, explain and document licensing impact from changing IT architecture such as virtualization and cloud computing;
  • Discover and achieve financial savings via software deployment and licensing optimization;
  • Establish new Software Asset Management policies, enforce existing controls, investigate licensing issues and address audit inquiries;
  • Collaborate closely with management and product owners within IT and Sourcing to support the negotiation and administration of software contracts;
  • Assist with the development and design/enhancement of new and existing SAM tools and systems;
  • Collect and analyze discovery and procurement inventory, incorporating usage and contractual data to report on compliance and true-up;
  • Develop and verify financial forecasts, alternate cost models and net-license-position;
  • Cultivate vendor relationships and maximize value from agreements;
  • Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

  • High level understanding of technology;
  • Understanding of clustering options, virtual technologies, cores versus sockets and the basic functionality of the software and technology deployed;
  • Ability to keep current with technology changes;
  • Ability to understand the licensing implications of technology projects within the organization and to recommend alternatives;
  • IT Asset Management certifications such as: Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP) and Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM);
  • Knowledge of Accounting and Financial Systems;
  • Experience in a benchmarking role or data analytic role;
  • Strong knowledge of analytic methods and Excel capabilities to support analytics;
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of Remedy Asset module;
  • Knowledge of IT Asset Management Best practices;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills with emphasis in proactive brainstorming and debating dialogues;
  • High energy, positive thinking, assertive professional who can serve as a remarkable contributor to any team;
  • Knowledge of IT financial & inventory systems (Remedy AR system preferred);
  • Background in financial accounting and/or Vendor Management;
  • Experience with Software Asset Management tools (e.g., Flexera).

Qualification Requirements: 

1. A BA/BS and 4 years of purchasing, procurement, contract administration or a related field, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising professional personnel performing duties in one or more of the above fields;

2. Education and/or experience equivalent. However, all candidates must have the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience.
