Procurement IT Category Lead - New York University


This is an exciting role within the transforming Procurement team and function at NYU!

The Category Lead works with portfolios within designated procurement spend categories - in this case Information Technology. The Category Lead is responsible for independently managing one or more related procurement category areas with the goal of improved customer satisfaction, achievement of greater efficiencies, reduction of risk, and realizing financial cost savings. In support of organizational mission and goals, the incumbent is accountable for effective supplier performance management, customer relationship development, determination of customer needs, supplier diversity, contract creation, contract execution and contract renewals. 

Required: Bachelor's Degree 5 years of related procurement experience, including experience with procurement, contract negotiation, customer relationship management and supplier relationship management. Experience with eProcurement technologies. Demonstrated ability to develop data-driven category analysis including relevant market insight, supplier understanding, and spend analysis. Demonstrated ability to develop deep category-specific expertise, and define and document key stakeholder business requirements. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple spend categories in a defined portfolio, including management of supplier relationships and diverse supplier programs; manage the contract lifecycle including contract renewals and compliance management; develop deep, sustainable customer relationships; and develop category strategies in collaboration with strategic sourcing resources. Proven ability to understand procurement operations, including payables processes. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact in a cross-functional environment with all levels of management. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint and Excel.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Finance, Economics or Supply Chain. Experience with strategic sourcing and competitive price analysis. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional Purchasing Managers (CPPM) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP).
