Job Summary: 
Reporting to the Manager of IT Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management for Architecture, Bank Operations and Bank Information Systems, the Senior Category Manager – is responsible for building strong relationship with their business partners and drives the successful enterprise-wide sourcing, category management and contract execution and delivery of related spend categories, delivering the best value to the corporation while building and sustaining mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers. Provide subject matter expertise and strategic guidance within the vendor sourcing and purchasing areas; develop and instill appropriate sourcing and purchasing process and procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with the overall program; influence and support business owners and other groups across the Bank; lead cross-functional teams in support of the Strategic Sourcing and Contracting programs; and responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of the various category spend management across the Bank. 

This position is assigned primarily to Large Enterprise and Global Software negotiations with a strong emphasis in related Bank Operations and also supports the Enterprise IT Architecture.  The position requires a category knowledge aligned with position. 

Major Responsibilities: 
Provide leadership and direction in the design and implementation of a Strategic Sourcing program and support of the bank-wide Purchasing organization. Develop and maintain the processes, procedures, and organization in support of this program. 
The overall program will encompass the following area of responsibility:

STRATEGIC SOURCING AND SOURCING STRATEGY: Lead cross-functional team(s) through sourcing process. Lead or conduct spend analysis, needs assessment, benchmarking and business case development. Identify potential cost savings, spend reduction, supplier consolidation and standardization opportunities. Develop a category sourcing strategy including approved benefits targets. Lead teams through supplier selection and recommendation activities including: qualitative and quantitative analysis, selection criteria, long and short lists, RFI and RFP development and analysis. Provide subject matter expertise while working with Business Unit and Contracts Management in negotiation of vendor contracts.

CATEGORY MANAGEMENT: Provide sourcing strategy leadership and expertise in sourcing and supplier initiatives with major organizational impact. Maintain industry and market awareness trends through research and networking. Consider environmental impact of sourcing decisions. Create commodity specific sourcing strategies to optimize the supply base, diversity spending and total cost of ownership. Achieve category savings and customer satisfaction targets. Address and resolve escalated issues. Work with Legal and Vendor Risk Management to identify and mitigate contract risks.

VENDOR MANAGEMENT: Manage vendor performance in collaboration with internal clients to ensure impact of sourcing strategy and internal client’s satisfaction. Implement vendor performance dialogue using scorecards, periodic reviews, etc. Actively manage vendor portfolio and support internal clients in resolution of major issues with vendors.

CONTRACT MANAGEMENT: Provide subject matter expertise to business units and senior/executive management through complex high risk vendor contract negotiations from RFP through contract signature and contract lifecycle; analyze and leverage business unit project requirements, issues and implementation schedules to minimize contractual, business and regulatory risk and maximize reward to bank; provide contractual, business and regulatory advice relating to contract terms and conditions; communicate contractual and business risks to senior/executive management for approval; and develop a negotiation strategy suitable for each vendor and lead each negotiation to successful completion. 


Additional Information: 
This position requires specialized knowledge and experience in work involving advising business line management how best to leverage supplier sourcing to minimize cost, with overall continuous improvement. 

Requires minimum of 5+ years leading Strategic Sourcing groups; 8+ years of strategic sourcing and supplier relations experience in assigned category specialty. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Finance or equivalent business experience; MBA preferred; Experience in designing, deploying or managing E-Sourcing tools and technology preferred.

Minimum 7 years of applicable professional sales or contract negotiation experience and a demonstrated track record in successfully developing, negotiating, and managing complex agreements. 
Experience with vendor contracts or contract legal language. 
Ability to work independently in a dynamic, ambiguous and newly forming organization.
