VP of Telecommunications Sourcing

Supervisor: The VP of Telecommunications Sourcing will report to the Global Head of Telco Sourcing in New York.

Scope: The Telco Sourcing Manager will be responsible for sourcing IT categories, specifically Telecom and Hardware.  The position will be located in New York.

Creating sustainable value across all Telecom and Hardware spend and associated sub-categories, sourcing and embedding robust contract management on both a single-market and global basis.
Delivering significant measurable annual savings, and cost avoidance, as well as driving insight through market research, benchmarking, supplier knowledge and networking.

This role is dynamic and requires close coordination with all members of the IT Sourcing Team and numerous Morgan Stanley managers globally with a goal to reduce costs and to minimize the contractual risks. The position is critical to productivity and for delivering on corporate-wide identified savings targets by working daily with internal and external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

-To execute a strategic plan in order to achieve a Telco Sourcing targets

-Ability to review, conduct and execute on complex RFPs, to achieve business objectives 

-To  develop and document a clear strategic plan for relevant, assigned subcategories, which will include the following: 

-Transport/Carrier (including Mobility)

-Hardware and hardware maintenance



-Optimize total cost of ownership for the Firm’s spend

-Develop, maintain and grow strategic, senior relationships with Managing, Executive Directors, Vice Presidents and other key stakeholders in order to successfully execute a specific portion of the Telco Team’s strategic plan.

-Develop and implement best-in-class procurement strategies to effectively source a portion of the ~$400M in Telco spend in coordination with vendors, product owners, legal and other internal stakeholders. 

-Periodically review the Telco sourcing operations and make recommendations to roadmap as necessary to support a best in class operation. 

-Contribute to the collegial culture of the firm, adding to the open, communicative team environment.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with experience in Telco Sourcing.  Additionally, the candidate will have experience in strategy, data management and reporting, operations and technology.

More specifically, qualifications include:

-10+ years’ experience sourcing telco initiatives in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to meet goals and deadlines, specifically on a global basis

-Experience in complex, global industries with a strong customer centric focus and a track record of success working in a team-based environment.

-Extensive working knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies and category management processes.

-Excellent negotiation experience and comfort representing the company's interests in interactions with third parties.

-Deep knowledge in Telco categories, including Hardware, Wireless, Multimedia product set and Transport.

-A demonstrated ability to think strategically and act as a thought partner with teammates, senior leadership, and key stakeholders

-Demonstrated analytical capabilities with ability to translate analysis into tactics and results.

-Exceptional project management skills evidenced by a track record of success leading engagements or other problem-solving initiatives requiring coordination of cross-function team members with varied backgrounds and skills.

-Excellent communication and presentation skills and proven ability to effectively interact with team members, clients, and peers, earning their trust and establishing credibility.

-Outstanding written skills and experience setting forth achievable and specific organizational objectives in a clear and concise way.

-Ability to discern where to place efforts/ actions to add the greatest value and maximum impact.

-High energy level, intelligence, maturity and unquestionable integrity with a team orientation.

-Ability to be flexible, adjust to changing priorities and unforeseen events, and proactively adjust strategy and approach from new learnings.
